Archiving, organizing, and searching multimedia data in an appropriate fashion is a task of increasing importance. The ontology theory may be appropriately extended in order to face with this challenging issue. In this paper we propose a novel multimedia ontology theory. We first describe the multimedia ontology concepts and then we adopt TAO XML as a suitable ontology description language.
