A Survey of Ideas in Programmable Networks
Xuebin Xu, Javed Khan · 2002
In this paper, we present a hot research area in network, active and programmable network. Programmability added to traditional network makes network more complex, flexible and cost-efficient. An array of projects is reviewed, in order to interpret this novel networking model and its state-of-the-art. We first introduce the basics of programmable network. Also, different architectures and specific methods for programmable network are examined. At last, we conclude this paper by providing recent development and identifying the challenges in programmable networking.
