A network performance measuring device (NPMD) was designed. The NPMD is a multiprocessor built around the 8080a microprocessor. The NPMD can be regarded as a tool for measuring important parameters affecting performance in computer networks as a step to improve computer services to the users. With the aid of the NPMD, optimum design of a data communication network, serviced by an existing computer system, becomes easier. NPMD combines the basic features of terminal and link simulators, data test sets, and data acquisition devices. 4 references.
