Traditional methods based on response times (RTs) led to the development of cognitive models of several mental activities. This is the case, for example, of mental rotation, which can be conceptualised as a gradual, time-consuming internal process performing angular transformations at a certain speed [1]. Yet, RTs alone cannot expose directly the instantaneous spatio-temporal evolution of mental rotation.
