Insights from the bar: A model of interaction

In order to analyse the behaviour of humans in bars, we did not want to rely on introspective data only, because these may be unreliable [13]. Therefore, we collected natural data from real-life interactions. We recorded a video corpus of unscripted ordering interactions in German clubs. In these recordings, 108 customer-bartender interactions were identified, annotated and analysed. We describe this process in the next section. We continue with a comparison of the real data and introspective data that was collected in an online survey. 4 Video corpus The video recordings were conducted in the bar areas of several club locations in Germany. We acquired high quality recordings of the bartenders’ and the customers’ perspective and speech by using two HD cameras (Sony PMW-EX3) and two boundary layer microphones.
