Generic Evolution Algorithms Programming Library

Gabriella Kókai · 1999

In this paper the GEA (Generic Evolutionary Algorithms) evolutionary programming library and its application is presented. The system has been developed in order to get an easy-to-use, widely applicable evolutionary programming library in ANSI C++ language. In the system, most of the functions (including selection and genetic functions for some representations) needed in the evolution process are implemented. There are several parameters in the system which can be varied by the user. The paper introduces also two applications of the system with Lindenmayer systems. 1 INTRODUCTION The GEA (Generic Evolutionary Algorithms) system has been developed to ll out the space in easy-to-use, widely applicable evolutionary programming libraries which take advantage of the object-oriented properties of the ANSI C++ language. A very important advantage of the GEA system is that people who are not very familiar with evolutionary algorithms still can use it easily. Another important c...
