A Lightweight RFID Authentication Protocol Using Physical Unclonable Function

Zheng Zhang, Yuanbo Guo, Wei Liu · ASME Press eBooks · 2011

The feature of limited resources make it is very difficult to design applicable security authentication protocols with low cost in RFIDs systems. Existing RFID authentication protocols either require costly operations or suffer from some security weaknesses. A PUF is a challenge-response circuit which utilizes the interchip variations to implement tamperresilient. In this paper, we analyze the security requirements for RFID authentication protocol, and then propose a new PUF (physical unclonable functions) based lightweight RFID authentication protocol, which has the merits of high confidentiality and authentication but a low computation∕storage cost.
