The author is an Examiner of Questioned Documents who maintains offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Godown is a Fellow in the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and a member of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners, and for a number of years has been actively engaged in various research projects on new techniques in the examination of questioned documents. Portions of this paper have been presented by the author at meetings of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, and the present manuscript was read at the Rochester meeting of the International Association for Identification in July 1963.-EDITOR.
