Power control in cellular networks, a review

Loutfi Nuaymi, Philippe Godlewski · Networking and information systems journal · 1998

Power Control (PC) in cellular mobile networks is a key for an important issue: increasing capacity without affecting the performance. Over the last decade, a large number of proposals have been made for this matter. In this paper, we give a general formulation of the PC problem. Some of the methods published in specialized literature are reviewed In particular, we investigate in details the Perron-Froebenius theorem utilization and the algorithms based on it. We give a historical perspective of the development of the corresponding research. A critical evaluation is proposed Two topics, fundamentally linked to PC, resource allocation and admission control, are approached. Simulation principles are given. The paper closes by a discussion on the PC problem.
