THE FORTRAN--PL/I INTERFACE PROBLEM.
Argonne National Lab., Ill. Chicago Dept. of Environmental Control, Ill. National Air Pollution Control Administration, Washington, D. C., Mark Matthies · 1968
This report describes the inaplementation of two techniques that provide for the establishment of a FORTRAN-PL/I interface. The report is not intended as a programmer's guide, but rather as a thorough discussion of the linkage and comrmonication areas that allow PL/I and FORTRAN to be dynamically combined. The means for explicit and implicit passage of data types compatible to both languages is examined. This requires a study of two types of PL/I object time data-declaration blocks, namely, the string and array dope vectors.A brief discussion of the aspects of the internal control structures of PL/I and FORTRAN, related to linking the two languages, is also included.
