TACHIR: a tool for the automatic construction of hypertexts for information retrieval

The paper describes the design and implementation of TACHIR# a pro# totype tool for the automatic construction of hypertexts for Information Retrieval. TACHIR builds up automatically an IR hypertext# a hypertext to be used for information retrieval# from a document collection# using a methodology that makes use of a set of well known Information Retrieval techniques. The structure of the IR hypertext re#ects a three levels con# ceptual model# where it is possible to navigate among documents# index terms# and concepts using dynamically determined links. The prototype tool is implemented on top of the Mosaic interface for World Wide Web# and the structure of the hypertext is speci#ed using the hypertext markup language #HTML#. 1
