Types and forms of knowledge (patterns): taxonomies and concept hierarchies
Jan M. Żytkow · Oxford University Press eBooks · 2002
Taxonomies, also called concept hierarchies, are presented as a form of knowledge useful in knowledge discovery in databases (KDD). Their strength relies on compact description that can represent rich empirical contents. This results in predictive capabilities that can tolerate missing values. The applications and limitations of taxonomies are discussed and their relations to other forms of knowledge.
