A practical guide to the Ace application specification languages

The technology described in this document is new - so new and different, in fact, that some people call it disruptive technology. Yet, viewed in context of history of computing, and notion that the network is computer, Ace technology is obvious next step in evolution of high level programming languages for network computer. Ace is a research project in Sun Microsystems Laboratories, a small R&D division at Sun Microsystems, Inc. The project has produced a network programming model, along with an application programming language (with several specialized sublanguages) and a compiler for it that can generate and deploy a working application in a variety of architectures. As of this writing, technology is available for selective evaluation, but it is not a product.
