Archaeology can be regarded as the science which concerns itself with recovering and studying the wide ranging relics of man's past. From the study of these material remains, the archaeologist seeks to reconstruct the social, economic, technological, religious and historical aspects of human development from its beginnings with the first 'toolmakers' more than two million years ago up to the present day.
