Computing Real Logarithm of a Real Matrix
Nagwa Sherif, Ehab Morsy · 2008
In this paper we will be interested in characterizing and computing for a nonsingular real matrix A ∈ Rn×n a real matrix X ∈ Rn×n that satisfies eX = A, that is, a logarithm of A. Firstly, we investigate the conditions under which such logarithm exists, unique, polynomial in A, or belongs to a particular class of matrices. Secondly, real Schur decomposition will be used to compute X.
