The Edinburgh Arm-Eye System
R. J. Popplestone · Birkhäuser Basel eBooks · 1975
A film showing the Edinburgh Robot assembling a toy car and a toy boat from a random pile of parts was presented. The techniques used in the computer program controlling the robot are described, together with the way the components of the car and boat are located and recognised by their silhouette, how unidentified heaps of components are separated, using the “hand” and how the system is “taught” to recognise components and to pick them up.
