Building the Infrastructure of E-University

E-University refers to the university that supports its research, education and administrative activities via the internet that overcomes the boundaries of time and space. The underlying infrastructure is a web based autonomous distributed information system, which integrates very different format of data. The data may be structured or unstructured text, pictures, sound, and video. It is a very complex information system. In this paper only very few issues have been touched: privacy and security, group ware, management of multimedia (text, graphics, images, audio and video) and semi structured text (XML technology).
