Non-Invasive Reverse Engineering of CMOS Integrated Circuits

Michael Brutscheck, B. Schmidt, Marco Franke · 2009

In this paper a novel non-invasive procedure will be presented to determine nonlinear binary multi-input multi-output (MIMO) integrated circuits (ICs) solely by their input-output behaviour. The algorithm identifies unknown CMOS ICs through the abstraction of traditional automata theory. The entire determination procedure was simulated and fully tested on IEEE ISCAS benchmark models as well as user defined models of real ICs. The results obtained will be presented in this paper. For every circuit analysed the function has been successfully determined by the novel identification procedure proposed.
