Gapped time series appear frequently in Astronomy due to many different causes: Poor weather conditions, lack of allocated telescope time, unobservability of the objects under study, day-night alternance, etc. For this reason, many different methods have been proposed to search for periodicities in unevenly spaced time series; however, sometimes these methods have been applied directly to the problem without a check of their real ability to detect the true peaks or, other times, their performance has been checked with synthetic signals with or without added noise
