Databases online and on CD-ROM: how do they differ, let us count the ways

We decided to investigate the factors of response time, coverage, content, and cost in two popular databases that are available online and on CD-ROM. We compared SilverPlatter CD-ROM versions of Psychological Abstracts and Sociological Abstracts, with online versions available on DIALOG.
