Design and Implementation of an Extensible Tool for Performance and Dependability Model Evaluation
Gerard Patrick Kavanaugh · 1999
The goal of the Mbius project is to develop an object-oriented, formalismindependent, stochastic modeling framework, and to implement the framework in a practical, performance-dependability evaluation tool. The Mbius framework is the specification of an abstract notion of modeling in which models may be represented in many formalisms. The Mbius tool uses this flexible modeling approach for model construction, and implements a means for solvers to interact with these models in order to determine measures of interest. More than simply providing an interface for the framework, the Mbius tool is the realization of architectural concepts that allow it to be both extensible and maintainable.
