Sampling and Redundancy

This paper is a study of the effect of redundancy on discrete representations of a signal. It has been shown that specification of energy or power bound for a signal implies a correlation amongst the Nyquist samples. Transient and periodic bandlimited waveforms have been analysed to determine possible sampling rate reductions due to this redundancy. Lastly, a heuristic analysis has been carried out to determine the reduction in the information rate of a sequence for which the adjacent samples are constrained to have only a certain set of values.
