Hierarchical Structure Analysis of Linguistic Values

Lawry (2004) proposed appropriateness degrees of linguistic values for CWW, where, an ordered structure of linguistic values is induced by the object u of the domain U, i.e., for each u? U, there is a common ordering of linguistic values shared by all individuals. The common ordering coincides with a consonant mass assignments on H, which helps us to obtain appropriateness degrees of compound Label expressions easily. Hence, in this new framework of linguistic model, the ordering of linguistic values play an important role, and the appropriateness degree, in contrast to a membership degree, of a value to a label is derived from that probability distribution, or mass assignment, on the set of label subsets. Based on Lawry’s approach, we can obtain the formal context of linguistic values and the relation and hierarchical structure of linguistic values based on formal concept analysis. In this chapter, we introduce all of these contents, we refer to [Lawry (2001a,b,c, 2004); Pei et al. (2007a)] for more details.
