Prototyping Smart Objects for Ubiquitous Computing
Matthias Kranz, Albrecht Schmidt · 2005
Abstract. Technology enabling us to augment physical objects with electronics and thereby making them ’smart ’ is readily available. What could keep us from building smart objects? This paper keeps in perspective current development and technologies with a focus on ubiquitous computing appliances. The primary contribution of this work is the identification of issues related to prototyping hard- and software as well as to finally building these devices. Guidelines for development are presented and an outlook for future research is given. 1
