G. Campbell, Kurt Fuchel, S.L. Padwa · 1974
BROOKNET is a digital communications network which provides a data link between the Central Scientific Computing Facility (CSCF) and various user supplied computers at Brookhaven National Laboratory, using underground coaxial cable. A remote computer can use BROOKNET for one or both of the following functions: (1) Remote Input/Output of ordinary jobs to be run on one of the two Control Data Corporation (CDC) 6600's at the CSCF. (2) Fast, direct data transmission between the CSCF and an experimental area. The basics of operation of the system and some remotely initiated tasks are described. (MOW)
