Designing a Robot Cognitive Architecture with Concurrency and Active Perception.
D. Paul Benjamin, Deryle W. Lonsdale, Damian M. Lyons · DigitalCommons@Pace (Pace University) · 2004
The paper examines two limitations of conventional cognitive architectures for robotics: lack of support for true concurrency and lack of active perception. ADAPT integrates Soar cognition, the RS formal model of concurrent sensorimotor activity, and an algebraic theory of decomposition and reformulation. Perception is treated as problem solving and the world as a network of concurrent processes.
