Contracting for data mining services is an art form. The legal issues permeating the negotiation, drafting, and performance of contracts--on cutting edge issues like noncompetition agreements, privacy issues and Y2K compliance--requires in-depth legal and industry knowledge. This article is but an outline, or even more perfunctory, a checklist, of issues that must be addressed in data mining contracts.
