Transducers and Sensors for Distributed Control Systems
V.R. Moorthi, Parmod Kumar, Arvind Kumar Gupta · IETE Technical Review · 1992
With the advent of microprocessors Distributed Control has become popular in the industry. However, to derive the full benefits of Distributed Control, compatible sensors and transducers are essential. Smart transducers which are only marginally costlier as compared to conventional transducers bat are far superior in performance, are suitable for use with these new systems. Non-contact type sensors are also being widely used because of their accuracy, versatility and reliability. Sensors incorporating expert systems, those using neural networks, distributed fiber optics and radio frequency tagging are some of the sensors which have promise for the future.
