Towards a Cost Estimation Model for Ontology Engineering.

This paper introduces ONTOCOM, a parametric cost estimation model for Semantic Web ontologies. After analyzing established, general-purpose cost estimation methodologies we propose a methodology, which can be applied to develop cost models for ontology engineering. We examine the particularities of this engineering field on the basis of the proposed methodology, in order to identify cost factors which influence the effort invested in ontology building, reuse and maintenance.
