In the localist approach of connectionist model the network consists of the same type of nodes, whereas only activation signals are used for the propagation of changes. This may be sufficient in some simple applications, but to support semantic knowledge representation and processing a more complex solution has to be applied. In this paper we are proposing Hirearchical Semantic Form (HSF), a modification of the localist approach consisting of four types of nodes and seven types of signals used to process the information in the network. HSF is able to represent arbitrary semantic knowledge and to facilitate the processing of this knowledge including natural language understanding, semantic search and question answering.
