In this study, the principles of developing regional, national and international environmental monitoring systems have been investigated and the use of computer networks and the internet in such systems has been outlined. The primary feature of the suggested system is that it facilitates the correct monitoring of environmental information at desired times from a remote terminal. Also it requires creating a regional, national and international integrated database and a control unit. However, the ultimate goal is establishing a medium where a fast and effective information flow regarding the mutual pollution concentrations is achieved. It is believed that the proposed system will considerably improve the efforts for protecting the environment.
