MODIFICATION OF THE RESOLUTION TIME OF GEIGER-MUELLER TUBES BY MONOVIBRATOR CIRCUITS
H.W. Schulze, Martina Leistner · Kernenergie (East Germany) · 1962
The modification of tube discharge by lowering of the tube voltage under the Geiger threshold by means of rectangular monovibrator pulses is discussed. Two characteristic forms of the modification were detected. The monovibrator pulse appears before the discharge lateral broadening begins to narrow, limiting the narrowing and shortening the resolution time. If the pulse occurs after discharge narrowing, then the ion migration is retarded and the resolution time is lengthened. Special circuits and formulas were developed for the experimental detection of this phenomenon. (tr-auth)
