Introducing VB .NET

Dan Clark · Apress eBooks · 2002

To effectively program in Visual Basic you need to understand the underlying supporting mechanisms that enable it to function. The transition between Visual Basic 6.0 and the current .NET version has been quite dramatic. For several years there has been an evolution in business application programming. The transition included an application development shift from a two-tier, tightly coupled model into a multitiered, loosely coupled model often involving data transfer over the Internet or a corporate intranet. In an effort to allow programmers to be more productive and deal with the complexities of this type of model, Microsoft developed the .NET Framework. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
