A continued rise in interconnectivity requirements and shortage of experienced systems integrators characterizes a growing need for access to data networking information. An expert system is under development to capture telecommunications design knowledge. The system contains information regarding the design of both Wide Area Networks (WAN) and Local Area Networks (LAN). The system is modular in design and can be tailored to specific organizations. This paper presents the features of the LAN module. 14 refs., 4 figs.
