Influence of Text & Graphics in Increasing Understanding of Foreign News Context

Given Americans' general ignorance about other nations and lack of understanding of events beyond U.S. borders, foreign news accounts should offer more background information. This experiment shows that background material in both graphic and textual forms effectively increases reader understanding of complex world events.
