Improvement of Matching Criterion for Motion Estimation in H.263

There are two motion prediction modes in H.263^[1].In order to improve the accuracy of motion estimation and smoothness of motion vector fields,several modiffications based on the analysis of scene content are imposed on Block Matching Criterion(BMC).The computer simulation results show that both the image quality and coding efficiency are improved.
